On Saturday 18th from 10am to 11am in Salt & Soul Wellness Studio in Strandhill, I’ll be teaching a donation based yoga class in aid of a Childcare Centre in Nepal. Please come to the class and show your support. You can book online at www.saltandsoul.ie or just show up on the day.
One year on from the devastating Nepal Earthquake, the rebuilding and recovery effort continues in Nepal. It is on this basis that we are holding the second ActionAid ‘Yoga Weekend 2016’ on Saturday 18th June and Sunday 19th June.
Over the weekend yoga and pilates studios across Ireland will be donating proceeds from their classes and fundraisers to ActionAid Ireland.
Funds raised this year will go towards the building of a childcare centre in Nepal. Childcare centres have been identified as one significant way to impact on women and children’s lives in Nepal, following the Nepal Earthquake.
In Bardiya, Ram, 22, is sending her three year old son Rohit to an ActionAid Childcare Centre.
“Before the Childcare Centre opened I struggled a lot to do household chores with my son. I would have to carry him on my back and go out to cut grass, wash dishes, go out to the market and go out to the collect firewood. I also work as a labourer and I struggled with this before the childcare centre opened. I earn two hundred rupees in a day (about €2), when I work outside the house.” She added, “we need to fund community childcare Centres in more areas to ensure that more women like Ram can support their families and continue their education”.
